What changed this year, and why
Nevada's minimum wage is $12.00 per hour for all employees, effective July 1, 2024. A Nevada ballot question approved by voters eliminated the previous two-tier minimum wage system that based rates on whether an employer offered health benefits. The single rate now applies to all employees regardless of whether the employer offers health insurance.

In Nevada, the minimum wage of $12.00 applies to all employees in the state as of July 1, 2024. Prior to this date, Nevada operated under a two-tier minimum wage system that differentiated between workers based on whether their employer offered health benefits. Ballot Question 2, approved by voters in November 2022, eliminated this two-tier structure entirely. Now, every worker covered by state law must receive at least $12 per hour, and the rate applies regardless of whether the employer provides health insurance or other benefits. The only workers who may earn less are those who fall under specific exemptions established by law. This change was implemented through Article 15, Section 16(A) of the Nevada Constitution and Assembly Bill 456, which was passed during the 80th Regular Session of the Nevada Legislature in 2019.
