Your Rights as a Worker
Whether you’re hunting for a new job or you’ve been working in the state for years, the law is designed to protect you. The Labor Standards Division ensures that you are treated fairly and paid every dollar you’ve earned.
Pay and Hours
Minimum Wage: Wyoming’s minimum wage is $5.15 per hour (though federal minimum wage rates apply to many positions).
Final Paychecks: If you leave a job, your employer must give you your final paycheck by the next regularly scheduled payday.
Overtime: If you work on a public works project, you are generally entitled to “time-and-a-half” pay for any work over 40 hours in a week.
Vacation: Employers can have “use-it-or-lose-it” rules for vacation time, but only if they gave you a fair chance to actually use those days.
If Things Go Wrong
You don’t have to handle workplace disputes alone. If you aren’t being paid correctly, you can file a claim for wages online for any work performed in Wyoming. Additionally, if you feel you’ve experienced discrimination at a workplace with two or more employees, the state provides a process to investigate and help resolve the issue.
Free Resources
Almost all of these services—including job training, career testing, and help with wage disputes—are completely free. The state also provides free labor law posters so you can always stay informed about your rights on the job.
