Q: When will I receive my final paycheck after leaving a job? A: By your employer’s next regular payday. Statute: W.S. 27-4-104(a)
Q: Am I entitled to unused vacation pay when I leave a job? A: You’re generally not automatically entitled to payment for unused vacation time. Wyoming law does not require employers to give vacation or pay vacation time out when someone leaves. But if your employer has a policy or promised to pay out unused time, they have to honor that. Statute: W.S. 27-4-507
Q: Can my employer deduct money from my paycheck? A: Yes, but only under certain rules (for example, loans or damages). Statute: W.S. 27-4-104(a)
Q: Can I be required to use direct deposit? A: No. You must agree to it. Statute: W.S. 27-4-101(b)
Q: What is the minimum wage in Wyoming? A: Wyoming law sets the minimum wage at $5.15 per hour, but most workers must be paid at least the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
Q: Does Wyoming require overtime pay? A: Not generally under state law, except for public works projects.
Q: How do I file a wage claim? A: Submit an online wage claim through the Labor Standards office. You’ll receive a PIN to save and return to your application if needed.
Q: What can I do if my employer doesn’t pay me? A: You may file a wage claim or take legal action to recover unpaid wages and costs. Statute: W.S. 27-4-204(a)
