Incremental changes were as follows: Effective July 24, 2007, the federal minimum wage increased to $5.85 per hour. Effective July 24, 2008, the federal minimum wage increased to $6.55 per hour. Effective July 24, 2009, the federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 per hour. Georgia's minimum wage is $5.15 per hour, however, with some limited exceptions, the federal minimum wage rate applies. Georgia's minimum wage law can be found in the Official Code of Georgia Annotated (O.C.G.A.) at Title 34-Chapter 4-Section 3 (O.C.G.A. 34-4-3) and the Fair Labor Standards Act, generally and at 29 U.S.C. 203, 206, 213, and 214.
